From Timber to Tech: The Founder Behind The Bright Thread

Winfield, BC The Bright Thread

In the heart of Chilliwack, British Columbia, a garage hums with quiet intensity. It’s not a showroom or a startup incubator—but it might as well be. Inside, one individual has spent the last two years building something extraordinary: a brand that stitches together creativity, sustainability, and unapologetic self-expression.

They call it The Bright Thread.

The founder’s journey began in Tooran—also known as Turan—Punjab, India. In 2002, they moved to Winfield—now called Lake Country—in British Columbia, Canada. With a deep curiosity about how things work, they took mechanics in high school and began working closely with a millwright and other mechanically inclined mentors at the Oyama Forest Product Timber mill in Oyama, BC. It was there, surrounded by tools, machines, and problem-solvers, that they began to understand the power of hands-on creation.

Later that year, at age 19, they left school. With no formal qualifications, they continued working in the timber industry—where the work was demanding, precise, and deeply instructive, but never what they’d call hard labour. It was hard work, yes—but it was also formative. It taught them how to build, how to troubleshoot, and how to think like a mechanic.

Their entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. They went on to purchase and operate a running salon business in Kelowna, BC, called Shear Magic. While they never styled or cut hair themselves, they managed a team of barbers and hair stylists—gaining firsthand experience in business operations, customer service, and leadership. It was another chapter in their journey of building something from the ground up.

Years later, with no experience in web design or marketing, they taught themselves how to build a Shopify site from scratch. Every product, every pixel, every line of copy was crafted through trial, error, and sheer determination. To sharpen their skills and formalize their knowledge, they enrolled in Sprott Shaw College’s online Digital Marketing Management diploma program in British Columbia. They graduated—and emerged with not just a certificate, but a product line and a website they could be proud of.

Today, The Bright Thread is based in Chilliwack, BC—the same place the founder calls home. It’s more than a brand. It’s a personal revolution. A testament to what happens when you combine raw grit with creative fire

The product line is bold, ethical, and expressive. But behind it is a mind that dreams far beyond fashion—imagining orbital solar arrays, lunar-made energy systems, and modular heat engines built from magnifying lenses and graphite blocks. Their vision stretches from Earth to Mars, and even further into interstellar space. That’s why they need this tech—not because it’s trendy, but because it’s essential for the kind of future they’re already designing.

They’ve got a garage, a sketchpad, a fire in their mind—and now, a brand that reflects it all.
